Gabriel was born the eighth child in a family of ten to a father who was physically, emotionally, and financially abusive and a mother who was seemingly oblivious to her plight. Raised in a large household in a small town west of New Orleans, Louisiana, Gabriel suffered many different things.

From a very young age, she endured sexual abuse at the hands of others. Each time they were caught, she was beaten by her father, who believed that she was the cause of the behavior. After a time, she began to participate in the sexual acts.

Eventually, her mother moved to Georgia, taking the youngest five children with her. By then, Gabriel was ten years old and plagued by many secrets and demons of her own. She began to perpetuate what she'd learned in her new environment.

Trying to navigate through adolescence with secrets, lies, and sins proved to be very difficult for Gabriel. Internally, she was tormented daily. Yet and still, she fell deeper into the mire.
