Victim Loss of Power
"Oh, where do I begin? This is a painful yet insightful read into the life of a young girl born into the perfect storm. Poverty and lack of education are two potent ingredients that seem to have led to the abuse of an innocent child. Neglectful and ignorant parents aided in the cycles that plagued this family producing a little girl who felt voiceless and only visible in the worst ways. This is a tale of the times, the location, and the systemic issues that plague young black children in parts of this country that are forgotten. Sexism and internalized racism aided in her silence and eventual abuse of another helpless child. This book is unfortunately NOT fiction. This is just the beginning of what we can hope is a trilogy toward healing, forgiveness, and redemption. I believe there is so much that can be taught from this book, I am patiently waiting for part 2. " Me'Kayla Whitenburg, Reader.
Victim Loss of Power
I gave this book a 5 because it makes you think and see another perspective of life. It's a story where you can either relate to it. Have seen the behavior in others or if you know someone... You can now see it, feel it, and maybe understand what that person lived through. A must read for those that have partners that have experienced abuse and would like to understand why their loved one does some of the things they do. - Janet Lederman, Reader.
